Three…two…one…zero baby!! This by far was the most intense book out of the This Man Trilogy. I’ve been reading this trilogy since Book 1 and fell in love with Jesse from the get go. Its been quite a journey to see the many ups and downs and transformations he and Ava have gone through to come out on the other end safe, together and with their own little family.
Get ready to get taken on an emotional up & down rollercoaster ride of drama, intense love, hot sex and women scorned! The title “This Man Confessed” fits the novel perfectly because Jesse sure makes “confessions” galore in the story! There’s curve ball after curve ball in this book. Just when you began to get a bit comfortable and feel like everything is finally going smoothly…another curveball gets thrown Jesse & Eva’s way! I think the author, Jodi Ellen Malpas, did a wonderful job with throwing curveballs & bombshells. So many times my mouth dropped and I re-read a paragraph a few times not believing what I had just read! There are so many moments that have you on the edge of your seat scared to turn to page thinking everything is about to crumble and fall apart for them. And at the same time you can’t help but continue to read on.
I don’t want to give any spoilers away since at the time I’m doing this review this book isn’t released to the public yet but all I will say is two words…”Ruth Quinn”!! By far she was the biggest bombshell dropped! She has a far bigger role in this than I think anybody will see coming.
As for the main characters….Ava…I have to admit she got on my last nerves sometimes in this one. She was very overly stubborn sometimes to the point it was childish. She does a bunch of things that can potentially put herself and other very important people (won’t say who) in danger. And she does it on purpose just to piss Jesse off!!! She makes reckless choices sometimes and almost made a choice that I think would’ve destroyed them both. I can understand wanting to rile up your significant other if they’re getting on your nerves lol But when you do something to potentially put yourself and others in harms way? That’s when it becomes a problem.
There were a few times I got a bit upset with her acting the way she did at. I started liking her a lot more towards the end of the book. She began to see the light and come around being smarter about some decisions she was making.
And of course, I have to say plenty about one of my fav fictional men…Jesse Ward. He was beyond sweet in so many moments through out the story. I adored the fact that he tries to shield Ava from any kind of pain… emotional, physical, mental, etc… He wants her completely happy, loved, and pleasured At all times and I thought that was so sweet. Sometimes I think he used his body to get what he wanted out of Ava lol But I’m not complaining Don’t get me wrong, there were definitely times that Jesse pissed me off too while dealing with his confessions. There’s also such an endearing quality about him when you really begin to see how much of a troubled past he’s truly had. The secrets that are revealed in This Man Confessed will shock you. At the same time, I came out of it feeling sympathy for him for all of it. I felt like my sympathy outweighed any other emotion I felt about it.
One thing I didn’t expect was the tears! These books have never made me emotional thus far… But This Man Confessed certainly did. There are moments that are so heartbreaking that it just tugs at your heart.
On a lighter note, the sexual scenes are amazing as always. Very intense and passionate and left me loving Jesse even more.
I will definitely miss Mr. Ward since this is the last book in the series. I hope for a spin off following Kate & Sam’s story. Ava’s brother Dan had some crazy stuff going on too. I will miss you Jesse with your sun-pat peanut butter, countdowns and variously different fucks.
