I love how much Rylee cares about the children she works with. And seeing Colton begin to care for them too. I also liked delving a bit deeper into Colton's past.

This book can yo-yo back and forth jerking you from one extreme to the next. One minute they seem their in love and while make it. The next their ready to cut each other's throats!

Bottom Line

To quote from the book “We aren’t broken. Were just bent”. That through love you love past the pain. And that true love can heal wounds.

Book Blurb

What happens when the one person you never expected suddenly happens to be the one you’ll fight the hardest to keep?

Colton stole my heart. He wasn’t supposed to, and I sure as hell didn’t want him to, but he crashed into my life, ignited feelings within me that I thought had died forever, and fueled a passion that I never knew could exist.

Rylee fell out of that damn storage closet and into my life. Now I don’t think I’ll ever be the same. She’s seen glimpses of the darkness within me, and yet she’s still here. Still fighting for me. She is without a doubt the saint, and I am most definitely the sinner.

How is it the one thing neither of us wanted—neither of us anticipated that fateful night—has us fighting so hard to keep?

He steals my breath, stops my heart, and brings me back to life again all in a split second of time. But how can I love a man who won’t let me in? Who continually pushes me away to prevent me from seeing the damaged secrets in his past? My heart has fallen, but patience and forgiveness can only go so far.

How can I desire a woman who unnerves me, defies me, and forces me to see that in the deep, black abyss of my soul there’s someone worthy of her love? A place and person I swore I’d never be again. Her selfless heart and sexy body deserve so much more than I’ll ever be capable of giving her. I know I can’t be what she needs, so why can’t I just let her go?

We are driven by need and fueled with desire, but is that enough for us to crash into love?

This story takes you through so many ups & downs on an emotional rollercoaster. I will definitely say that Book #2 in this trilogy is even better than Book #1. What I liked about this book is it wasn’t predictable. I thought I had it figured out. But then I was surprised at some points. I think also the author’s writing style was even better. It was captivating and it held me. There was never a dull moment.

Colton had me wanting to kiss him yet choke him half the time lol I will say at this point I like him a lot. I don’t love him yet cause I feel like he had too many ups & downs. Was playing too many games & running away from things that he needed to confront. His past childhood is heartbreaking though. Its like he’s a grown man yet still carrying around the traumatizing scars of his childhood, particularly the first 8 years of his life. And the scars are so deep that they still effect his everyday life including his relationships. I think he’s never loved anyone. Or even opened himself up to that possibility. He thinks of himself and not worthy or capable of it. I think at his core he is a good man. But i think its so embedded in him that he doesn’t deserve love. Or that love always comes at a price. His view of the whole subject of love is distorted. But I think Rylee is just the person to help all those walls break through.

And then Rylee is such a likable character. I love how she’s so devoted to the young boys at the children’s center she works at. And it so many ways it parrelel’s to what Colton went through in his youth. Its like their two pieces of a puzzle that fit together. I like how she sticks to her standards & doesn’t jeopardize them, even when she wants to give in so badly to emotions. Towards the ending she did begin to get on my nerves with how insecure she came across and also jumping so quick to conclusions and believing anything the past skanks in Colton’s life say to her.

Speaking of skanks…Tawny is a piece of work! I am beyond sick of her. She is a jealous, vindictive, catty bitch. And I hope in Book #3 she finally gets what’s coming to her. I want Colton to fire her, cut off all ties with her whatsoever and just leave her out to dry. She disgusted me how she continuously tries to hurt Rylee for her own selfish gain.

The sex in here was pretty hot also. The mirror scene & the sexual scene towards the ending in Rylee’s hotel room were my favorites. The mirror scene was so sweet yet erotic, intense & I felt really shook them both their core. Literally & figuratively. They have such chemistry, heat & passion that it just takes over whenever their near one another.

I’m hoping Bennett & Haddie end up together too. Their such good best friends. Bennett to Colton. And Haddie to Rylee. I love how they both tell it like it is. They don’t sugar coat anything even if something the other doesn’t want to hear. And I really think they have Rylee & Colton’s best interest at heart. And then of course can’t forget about those sweet boys at the house Rylee works at. I think Zander & Shane are my favorites. What Shane did for Rylee was so heart warming! What an adorable kid.

And how did I know this book was going to end with a cliffhanger? Im not a fan of cliffhangers! lol And in this story it was very frustrating because just when I felt like Colton was finally beginning to get his act together, something crazy happens. But around 85% I think i began to feel it coming. Who knows what’s in store for Book #3? I just hope it all works out for the best. 4 Stars!
