Seeing two people that thought they lost one another reconnect on every level is just heart warming.

Depending on your preferences but there's so much cursing in here! Like most of the characters can't get through a sentence without saying "fuck" lol

Bottom Line

I think that whole theme and underlining factor this book has is love conquers all

Book Blurb

Fate hasn’t always been friends with Isabelle West. In fact, fate has been a downright bitch.

Isabelle has learned the hard way how hard life can be when fate isn’t by your side. It can hand you dreams on silver platters, but it can snatch them right back and hand you nightmares. One thing Isabelle knew for sure fate was consistent with was taking away everything she ever loved.

For the last two years Isabelle has been slowly clearing the clouds of her past. Happiness is finally on the horizon. She has a thriving business, great friends, and her life back. All she has to do is jump over the last hurdle…her ex-husband.

When problems start causing her to fear her new life, and memories that are better left forgotten start rushing to the surface the last thing she needs is a ghost from her past to come knocking on her door.

Axel never thought he would look into the eyes of Isabelle West again, and he wasn’t sure he wanted to now. He’s carried his anger for so long he isn’t sure he can just turn it off, but when he is faced with protecting her and an unexpected desire to have her again, life gets a little more complicated.

How will Axel and Isabelle deal when all their cards are put on the table and everything they thought was true blows up in their faces?

********Warning: This review may contain spoilers********

When a book has the power to move me to tears? The author has definitely done their job well! I can truly say I loved this book. And I love Axel. Add him to the list of sexy alpha males that get under your skin & touch your heart at the same time.

I think this love story between Axel & Izzy was beautiful and tragic at the same time thinking of how they missed out on so much time lost. Izzy thought Axel was dead and Axel thought she had just turned her back on their relationship when in reality it was evil June pulling the strings behind the scene. I would’ve liked to know a bit more about why she had a problem with Axel & Izzy being together to begin with because she sure did go above & beyond out her way to make sure they couldn’t find each other for a long time. But I think its beautiful how throughout all that… even throughout Izzy’s horrible marriage to Brandon, They never stopped loving each other.

I loved every character in Axel. Axel’s “Boys” were always fun and I thought they were sweet guys. The only character that I couldn’t stand was evil Brandon. What a sick psychotic bastard! I feel like he was pure 100% evil. I didn’t see an ounce of humanity or compassion in him the entire time. He got on my last nerves continuously popping up again & again in the story to try to hurt Izzy. All the way up to the end in fact! I was glad Izzy killed him. I think it was symbolic for her too and very traumatic to go through everything she’s gone through concerning him. And to be the one to end his life was powerful & haunting.

My heart went out to Izzy throughout this story. Especially in the beginning. In the first half of this book Izzy is this broken, damaged, scared, yet doesn’t have the fight & light gone out of her woman. I still could see strength in her but I felt like it was dormant, waiting for the right moment to emerge again. I think Axel coming back into her life( whether she was ready or not) forced her to be strong and face everything again. It did get frustrating seeing her dust everything under the rug & runaway at first but I certainly understood it considering everything she had gone through. In the 2nd half of this book I liked her more than ever. She became happy again, strong, and a fighter. I felt as if she was back to her old self again being comfortable in her own skin.

Gotta say I loved Greg & Dee too. I felt like they were all family. It felt like they were her siblings so loving and protective of Izzy as best as they could. I think they all had such a great bond & it was touching to see especially knowing what Greg had gone through loosing his own sister. I immediately fell in love with him too. He has such a good heart and I felt like he was this big, lovable, protective teddy bear lol

It was truly beautiful how everything came full circle. Axel & Izzy finding each other again, reuniting & reconnecting and then getting engaged & having a baby. It was the icing on the cake for Izzy to have the baby on the day she miscarried their first baby years ago. So heart warming.

Axel’s dirty mouth was delicious! I think the sex was perfect & wasn’t overdone at all. It was just right and each time was steamy & sexy.

I’m interested in seeing the next book in this series. Great job to Harper Sloan!
