Storyline had potential

Too much colloquialism, storyline and character development seriously lacking, dialogue only added to rush to erotic scenes

Bottom Line

The only good thing about this story is the hot guy on the cover but if you like sex scenes, you may enjoy this book

Book Blurb

Love meets kinky sex. Audree has her eyes set on Rylan from the first time they met and little do they know, it’s lust on sight on either end. Both are scared of making the first move but soon, the passionate sparks are too much to resist. Dark desires comes to light –who will be left standing?

Let’s see, Where to start? I thought this book had the potential to be a good read. I liked the premise of the female being the one with the “dark” tendencies and somewhat of the aggressor but this book just didn’t do it for me.
The first clue that I just wasn’t that into it was when I came across the line “Yummy, yummy, in my tummy”. My first thought was what Kind of juvenile saying is this? and soon found that this book was chock full of colloquialism which I found to be rather a turn-off…. but that’s just me.

The characters where interesting enough and I loved the fact that the couple was interracial ( black woman, white man) which is new territory for me.

The main problem that I had with this book was it was somewhat confusing and difficult to follow. It seemed as if the author just included dialogue in a hurried attempt to get to the “erotic” escapades. At one point, the character was dreaming and it was really difficult to tell if she was still dreaming or if the dream had indeed turned real. There was also another instance where the two characters were to go on a first date, she was getting dressed, he went home to get ready for the date and then there was never anymore mention of the date at all. What the heck?

When I’m reading a novel I like to get involved in the storyline and with the characters. With Dark, I felt no connection to the characters at all. The premise of the story was a good one but the story needed some serious development and more meaningful interaction between the characters. Sorry to say but the only good thing about this book is the hot guy on the cover.
